Ho Ho Hum

Well, to answer tiff's query the work get together was, well, here is part of what newest recruit said, "The people we work with are . . . unique. I'll leave it at that." And I'll leave it there too except to say, thanks to newest recruit a good amount of food was good. Beyond good. I will be singing the praises of (her version) of Snicker Salad for the rest of my singing days.
Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum.
Otherwise the season is a mix of ho ho and ho-hum. Sometimes I'm up and sometimes down. And it seems like I'm not the only one. A few others have mentioned, "not being in the spirit" of the days. I look around my neighborhood and with only a few days before that big day, many houses (and apartments) are dark, unadorned. Fa La Blah.
Still, Cherish and Snow Dude are doing their level best to infuse some Happy Holiday spirit in my partly humbug mind. Thanks to them and the sparkly fake snowflakes and our little family's history as told by keepsake ornaments on the tree that finally did make it out of storage, even if it does have to fight for a place of honor in an overcrowded dining room, I just might get there. Pete is very curious.

  1. I am not sure how the words "Snicker" and "Salad" go together... but I am intrigued!

  2. I'm not feeling too ho hum but certainly not all Christmasy either. Could be the weather, yesterday it was 77 and very humid. Turning the air on at the end of December just zaps the Christmas right out of things.

  3. This year definitely has it's own feel. To me it's a little disjointed since I celebrated with daughter at the beginning of the month. The rest of it feels unimportant.

We did put up a tree though, and assorted decorations and it makes the living room quite cheery. I'll go for cheery in this dark time of year.

    On that note, Happy Solstice!

  4. Sorry you have the blah's but I hear you. I think lots of people are suffering from the downslide in our economy, things are already rushed from day to day and the Holidays seem to exacerbate that. Many don't have families, aren't near family, can't get to family and this time of year is HELL to go through alone. So that blah is blanketing lots of people right now. Hope you and the fam get through it alright. And just what the hell is a Snicker salad?

  5. You're not the only one - except now, many many days after Christmas, we still have some decorations up. Couldn't get going, and now can't stop! :)
