March Woman, Women March

#MicroBlog Monday
A FB friend posed a kind of a question or challenge as her status:  It's the first of the month. What are you going to do every single day for the next 31 days? New habit? Ritual? Same ole' thing? Spill . . .

I didn't offer an answer on the post. But, have been thinking about it ever since I read it early yesterday morning. What am I going to do every day this month?

For starters, since it is March and Spring (reportedly) is on the way, I shall be getting myself (and Melody)ready for riding. The goal and promise is to ride on every opportune day, 40 degrees or higher and dry. In the meantime, steps, steps, and ever more steps. 10,000 steps over icy, un-even ground is quite the challenge, let me tell ya.

Additionally, I shall be delving ever so gloriously in the hearts, minds, and works of some extrordinary women with an eye toward igniting: create. I made a promise to finish the mandala project from January 2014 by the end of the first quarter of this new year. With seven plus the bonus left, 31 (now 30) days should just about cover it.

Beyond the above, pretty much the same ole' same thing; work, try to play, keeping eyes on the prize, putting one foot in front of the other, taking it one day at a time.

So, what say you? What are you doing with your March?

  1. Well, this made me feel like a slug : ) 10,000 steps in winter is mind blowing! Good on you!

I will be spending March gently easing into better exercise and eating habits. (don't want to rush it : ) And tending my basement seedlings in hope that Spring will eventually arrive.

    2. Nothing for you to feel sluggish about, you have had stuff going on. But, yeah daunting. Granted, I didn't do much more than the absolutely necessary walking when temps dipped in the negative ranges.

No, don't want to rush. Slow and steady, steady and slow--it is how habits stick. Or so "they" tell me.

I'm looking forward to hearing about, seeing your Spring bounty.

  2. I'd love to say that I'm going to do something for 31 days (which is a much better goal than 365 days) but even that feels a little overwhelming. Keep under my daily calorie count for 31 day in a row?

    1. Absolutely. *I* typically work in 2 week blocks. 31 days is overwhelming. Part of what I'm going to do is not eat potato chips. One day at a time.

  3. Mostly a bit of the same, but also some new. I've got to get some stuff prepared in our house for the baby, but I don't think I'll be doing too much else this month.

Good on you for getting out in the ice and snow! I've got some spike-things to put on my shoes this year, they help a lot towards not falling.

    1. That's plenty.

I'm not a fan of the spikes. They are more trouble than they are worth. I haven't fallen down much this season. Those falls usually happened when the dog wrench left when I turned to go right.

  4. Great plan for March... I plan on just surviving. This is my busy season at school and the neverending winter is putting a damper on my abilities to plan fun things until the sun decides to show up. I love your plans, though--very ambitious!

    1. Surviving is good, a great plan, in fact. We shall see. Three days and counting, so far so good.

  5. I believe that I will allow myself to be a couch potato and not feel ashamed.
