Back in the day, as they say, she made words. Some of the words, some of the time found themselves printed in one rag or another. Every now and again, the words printed in said rag (or another) brought out some kindly attention.
The picture is a depiction of one of those times. She doesn't remember if the interveiw was because of art or words. It may have quite possibly been both.
No one remembers. No one made note, or the note is long, long gone.
What she said to the woman holding the microphone was she enjoyed producing whatever; art or words or both. Said art or words or both represented life.
No, she doesn't really remember the interview but the best guess is, yes...fun. life. brief. fleeting.
*she: Deborah being interviewed because she did arty stuff that some folks liked and made mention, at times, honorably.
This reminds me of the Maya Angelou quote:

You may have forgotten all the details regarding this picture, but I hope you remember how you felt creating art and words.

8th: I used that quote as part of my year end greetings year end 2012!. I do remember how I felt. Every area of my life back then was dank and dirty, art and writing were my bright lights. The accolades, icing on the cake.

ReplyDeleteAnd, you are still making art and words. Not sure how often a microphone appears before your face, but the art and the words are still there and that is a wonderful thing.
Yes, I was all arty and wordy and on occasion, interview-worthy. And yes, I am still making art and words and while not being interviewed, am feeling good. Hopefully, with the changes that are happening, I will have time and head space to create more, not necessarily toward being interview-worthy, but that'd be nice. ;-)

DeleteWhat I would not have given to have a memory backup back in my day. When I was young I was in a fever with no time to remember because of course, I could make more and more words and art. These days I have learned the value of writing things down to trigger the memories.... and yes you make wonderful words and wonderful art....and thank the Universe for Blogs.
