Another Shot

turtle club guest (2010-ish)
Have you ever gotten up Monday morning, assessing the weekend days, how what got done (and what didn't) compared with the plans you had for the weekend leading in, and felt . . . deflated? Or worse, defeated?

Did I overreach or underachieve?

The off-the-rails . . . was it controllable? Could I have avoided the event that led to the eventual malaise that led to . . next to zero accomplishment?

The best part of waking up Monday morning (beyond you know, the waking up) is the chance to do the retrospective, dust yourself off, and do it (better) (different) (more) or (less) the next time. Putting the best foot forward, one step at a time, toward another weekend.

Monday and counting.

  1. One foot forward, one in front of the other, seems to be a recurring theme today. I'm feeling it. So are a lot of other bloggers. You're in good company. *hugs*

    1. Good to know. Perhaps we can keep each other company and in step. ;-)

  2. Ha -- yes, those moments leading out of the weekend feel very different from the moments leading in, when all that time is in front of me and I think that I'm going to accomplish so much more than I ever do.

  4. I know Monday gets a bad rap for being, well Monday. But I always see it as a fresh start. I find myself in a better mood at work, determined it will be a better week than the last. I take more time with my hair and choosing what I wear. By Thursday, I'm like "meh, who cares? The week is almost over?"

    1. My only issue with Monday is getting out the door on time--letting go of my time toward--"their" time.

Otherwise, going to work is easy-peasy. Tasks are pretty much defined, schedule is pre-determined. It is when I am on my own (or what should be my own) time that things go wonky.

  5. We for weekends are supposed to be a time for rest and relaxation. I think we put way too much pressure on ourselves to "accomplish" things. Perhaps the goal for weekends should just be to let go.

    1. No argument. Sometimes one of the "to dos" not done is rest.

  6. I love this perspective. Mondays are a nice way to make a fresh start. I'm going to try and remember this next Monday.

  7. I often feel the weekends are over too quickly. But sometimes I think we have too many expectations for a weekend or vacation, or even a week working. We should be kind to ourselves - there's nothing wrong with time to just "be."

    1. Nothing at all. Buuut . .
I guess the challenge is finding the median.

  9. YES! My husband feels this way all the time, because his weekend to-do lists are really more appropriate for a month, not two days. I feel disappointed when someone asks, "What did you do over the weekend?" and I honestly can't remember. How lovely to see Monday as a fresh start and not the awful return to drudgery that is how it's normally portrayed. Love the turtle!

  10. I have to admit that sometimes I think it's good to just not DO. Sometimes it's nice to just sort of not do.

I love the picture and the turtle. :)

    1. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it can't be helped. Or at least, the dream of something can't be helded.

Thank you. That was a fun Saturday and I am glad I chose to table any other "to do" to make it happen. ;-)
