I had a really good chuckle at the end there! Wonder what on earth prompted him to own up after all these years!
ReplyDeleteMany of the 40 years we were estranged. He began the phone conversation with, "this has been weighing heavily on my mind." Maybe he preached a sermon, maybe he'd heard confessions from others, maybe . .
DeleteI just don't know.
The Color Purple: 'I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.'
ReplyDeleteThanks for noticing and sharing it!
Yes, guarded curiosity on the confession . . .
You're quite welcome.
DeleteTruly. He has never, ever mentioned it, let along apologized. Never.
Your neighbor's picturesque yard design made a wonderful picture. But all of them are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love that block. I hope to (soon) get back on the block an explore some further reaching neighborhoods.
DeleteGorgeous pictorial jaunt through the neighborhood, D. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes, curious about the brother. Clearly it's been weighing on his mind for 40 years...
Clearly. But, I wonder what pushed the memory to the forefront. (though he remembers it incorrectly) He stole my car not once, but twice. He did, though, mentioned that he'd done other terrible things which, "I'm sure hurt you." Boy Howdy.
DeleteWow -- a 40-year-in-the-making confession. What moved him to do it now?
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. It feels so sunny and happy in the city after a long winter.
He didn't say in so many words, just that it was weighing on him that day.
DeleteThank you. The city IS feeling happy about the warmer, longer days.
Lovely happy photos.
ReplyDeleteAnd the confession - clearly he's wanting to make amends, even after 40 years. Better late than never? lol
Thank you.
DeleteIndeed.
Beautiful pictures! And wow, to the confession and contrition.
