Brrr

Pete, keeping warm

We have had some chilly weather. There was even snow one day this week. Not earth-shattering news. It is, after all, November. And this is, after all, the Midwest. It is what happens.

Still, most, seem to be of the opinion that it is too early for such folly.

But, not I. (mostly)

It is November in the midwest. Chilly and snow, (more often than not) are on tap.

That said, it would not hurt my feelings one bit if the 50s would return for the next two (or three--okay, that is pushing it) weeks.

PS: cauliflower masquerading as mashed potatoes, not half bad.

  1. I well remember some winters in my youth, about 80 miles east of Chicago, when it would start snowing around Thanksgiving and then we would not see the ground again until spring. It seemed normal. Super cute cat picture!

    1. I am hoping we never (again) have winters like that! Not seeing the ground until spring? oy.

      Thank you. :-)

  2. I think we are all struggling because it went from unseasonably warm to unseasonably cold with no transition time to get used to it. We were all suffering when it was 25 degrees the other day but that would feel like a heat wave in February.

Cauliflower as mashed potatoes only works for me with lots of butter and sour cream. Kind of defeats the purpose though : )

    1. Yes you're right. 25 in February is a heatwave. I suppose it is all relative.

Yes, kinda. LOL... I used cream cheese and a bit of butter. Better the next days. We've been looking at recipes for cauliflower stuffing. hehehe

  3. It's so weird to think that our mid-winter is milder than your November. It's all relative isn't it? I hope you (and Pete) manage to stay warm.

    1. That is weird. And intriguing. It is indeed, all relative.

      We shall try, thank you.

  4. Oh, what a cozy little snuggle buddy! Yes, western NY is also cold and frosty and even a little snowy as well. That smattering of days in the 20s was a little jarring...TOO SOON! I think the 50s-60s are the sweet spot. Maybe we'll have more of those before the snow dumps all over us... since we get your weather a day later! :)

    1. I wish he were a snuggle buddy. That was our Buttah. Pete suffers company only long enough to get what he wants. He'd burrowed into the bed clothes while I was at work.

In a FB flashback, it seems I made note of a 60 degree weekend right around this time a couple of years ago. Sweet indeed.

Fingers crossed for no snow dumping.

  5. Ah, weather. Thank you for so consistently giving us something to focus on. News flash: cold in the midwest. News flash: wet in the pacific northwest. Sigh.

Good luck with the cauliflower. I have my doubts, but good luck!

    1. Thank goodness for weather! For whatever would we talk about? LOL

The first go-round wasn't that bad at all. I'll have to try some variations to find the most perfect fit.
