On This Day

Left Knee: Whoa! What the heck is she doing?
Right Knee: Calm down, it’s April and the sun is shining (for a change).
Left Knee: Are you crazy? She just can’t get on a bike, start pedaling and expect me (us) to fall in line.
Right Knee: 1.Speak for yourself 2. Get a grip 3. We’re not going that far 4. Stop whining, I have to do more work when you whine.
Left Knee: Bite me. All I’m saying is she could give some warning. She can’t go from walking to riding and expect no reaction.
Right Knee: You’re a baby.
Left Knee: You’re a suck-up.

The other big happening on this day was the early morning earthquake. Seriously? Earthquake?

Whoa.

Actually, it wasn’t much, but certainly noticeable. No, it didn't wake me, I was somewhere between that awake / asleep mode where you think you're dreaming and then realize, nope, not a dream.

  1. HA! My knees have similar conversations...with my right knee doing the whining and the left knee ready to go.

    Keep on movin!

  2. Gald the earthquake was just a blip in your area. And what is it with the right knee?????? It is the right knee left ankle for me. And at least your knees aren't threatening to kill you!!! :-)

  3. My right knee says something like "watch me drop this bitch".

  4. I'm glad you weren't affected by the earthquake.

  6. Gah. It sucks getting older. My joints are starting to complain about stuff too.

An earthquake? I haven't heard about that. We had one once and it really freaked me out. You don't really expect earthquakes in Georgia. Chicago either, I'd venture to guess.

  7. They called it 'mild' but isn't 5.2 kind of a big-ish earthquake? It would be a big-ass hurricane, that's all I know. Did a dish break?

Earthquakes suck cuz you can't have an earthquake party.

  8. Sorry to hear about your knees but glad you survived the quake. I hope spring will make your knees get along with each other.

  11. I saw that earthquake shit on the news and thought of you and so many other friends who live in your neck of the woods.

Both of my knees like to go into lockdown. At the same time. Someone will one day catch this on tape and I will be on Funny Home Videos...

  12. 5.2? That's nothing. :)

Knee pain is way worse than a 5.2.

  13. Shazza: I'm finding that movin' on is the best way to keep the whining at bay.

Zebobia: Me too, about the blipness of the quaking. Felt reallly weird, still. No, at least. Yet.

    Syd: LOL

Amaya: Me too. Thanks for the thought.

Sassy: Thanks, the knees can take over a day.

BA: Yes, getting older sucks, but beats the alternative. And no, quakes in Chi are not expected. Not. At. All.

EB: I heard "mild" and "moderate" I think it depended on where you were. Granted those closer to the epi-center felt it more. Later I saw reports of broken walls and the like(not here though). According to the California girl (Sporks) 5.2 is "nothing". It was 5.2 more than I ever felt.

Chapin: Many thanks. I'm hoping Spring will help my knees get along better as well. For sure, they'll get more chances to try.

Nina: Me + fast...doesn't compute. I didn't notice any aftershocks though.

Maria: The sight of me getting up some mornings...thank goodness there aren't any cameras around. ;) Be well, Maria.

Sporks: So sez you. :) However, the knee pain was worse.

A few more rides over the weekend helped left & right get along with each other (and me) much better. :)

  15. Late to this conversation, but I soooo get the left/right knee conversation. FORTUNATELY, being on a bicycle seems to diminish the usual bipolar dialogue. Keep goin'!

Knock on wood, but it's been a couple of days since we've had an aftershock.
